MA Landscape Architecture

BEng Product Design Engineering

Hi, I'm Dominic Schoen, a landscape designer based in Canterbury, UK. While my design focus has evolved over the years, my passion for creative thinking and problem-solving has remained constant. I believe that the world around us can be thoughtfully designed and shaped to better suit our needs, enhancing the places where we live and providing an enjoyable backdrop to life’s moments.

We instinctively need green spaces for our well-being, and landscape design creates environments that nurture this connection to nature. My work is informed by a deep interest in historic landscapes, formal gardens, the Arts and Crafts movement, and the use of traditional, classic materials. I’m skilled in both 2D and 3D CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and traditional drawing techniques, offering a well-rounded approach to every project.

Outside of landscape design, I am a nationally ranked powerlifter and serve as the Eco Advisor for my local church—two roles that reflect my commitment to both personal development and community well-being.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss a project. I’d love to connect.

Design brief: ‘‘To transform the farm site, expand the public access and to create a plan in order to develop the site into a public friendly parkland that is not stuck halfway between a fully working farm and a public park.  A holistic and novel approach to the site’s design is needed to alter the site to a place where people can go and walk around, learn about fruit production and ultimately see the specialness and significance of the collection and how important conservation of agriculture is and the vast extent of growers in the region.’’
